What is Psychological Coaching?
Psychological coaching is a goal-oriented process that helps individuals enhance their emotional and mental well-being as well as their performance. It involves identifying obstacles and working collaboratively to develop coping and communication skills that can lead them toward their life, healing, and career goals.
Unlike therapy, coaching focuses on present and future objectives rather than exploring past issues. Similar to counseling, there are various types of coaches, including executive, grief, health, and life coaches, who assist clients in specific areas such as career success, relationships, personal peace, well-being, and joy. It is important to note that while there are different types of coaches, not all coaches are counselors, and their training and credentials can vary significantly.
Michele holds a Master’s degree in Counselling, 18 years of experience as a Canadian Certified Clinical Counselor in good standing with the CCPA, and has achieved the designation as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Certifications in Psychological Coaching in Grief and Trauma through an accredited institution.
Coaching can be utilized in various settings, including private practices, schools, and workplaces, to help clients improve their knowledge, skills, and healthy lifestyle choices. Coaching is generally short-term, solution-based, collaborative, and client-centered.
Coaches act as guides, helping clients identify obstacles and concerns while developing strategies and encouraging the use of personalized techniques for coping, such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, emotional expression tools, and visualization. Coaching styles may vary based on individual or group settings, but they always prioritize the client’s goals and needs.
