Working to manage and reduce uncomfortable symptoms of trauma, your emotional safety and stability are a priority. In this gently paced work, we apply a Tri-phasic Treatment Approach to symptoms associated with CPTSD, PTSD, and Dissociation. Each phase is a semi-structured, non-linear process - personalized to meet your values and needs, and includes the following phases:
Phase 1. Safety and stabilization Phase 2. Processing the experience Phase 3. Grief and loss, Identity, Integration and Meaning-making Treatment integrates the following treatment modalities: • Psychoeducation • Distress Tolerance Skills (DBT) • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), (FT-EMDR) • Creative expression • Body-Based Practices - Mindfulness, Nature, and Somatic Regulation Therapy • Parts work / IFS • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Therapy for trauma can involve 6 to 32 sessions and depends on your individual history, goals, and needs, as well as co-occurring mental health concerns. Many individuals report great relief after the initial phases and steps of therapy, being able to care for their nervous system, create calm, and reclaim a sense of safety in their bodies. Where appropriate, FT-EMDR can help rapidly reduce distressing memories and emotions, including flashbacks, to facilitate trauma processing. In essence, trauma therapy is about developing practices that support your wellbeing in the moment and provide you with the tools to be in and respond to life in ways that feel healing and healthy and allow you to continue growing forward. |

How FT-EMDR Supports Trauma & Anxiety
Testimonials"I feel lighter. I notice when I think about the trauma memory now that I don't become elevated or dysregulated. I can function."
"I’m feeling good after my [FT]-EMDR session. The negative feelings around the memory are minimal to non-existent. This was really helpful." |
The FLASH Technique (FT-EMDR) is a compassionate, evidence-based approach designed to help you reduce the impact of trauma-related memories and emotional distress. Whether you are coping with a single traumatic event (ASD, PTSD), complex trauma (CPTSD), or repeated experiences such as childhood abuse, emotional neglect, or domestic violence, FT-EMDR offers a safe and effective path to healing. Similar to traditional EMDR, FT-EMDR can be used for high anxiety, body image, and trauma-related nightmares.
FT-EMDR can cause side effects, including dehydration, tired eyes, and fatigue. Less common effects include headaches and vivid dreams, which are normal and associated with processing. You may also gain new insights and perspectives by integrating the memory. This brief, non-intrusive intervention typically takes 1-3 sessions to notice a reduction in symptoms. Being non-intrusive, it does not require you to share the details of your traumatic history. This helps to minimize the risk of re-traumatization. FT-EMDR is simple, prioritizes your emotional safety and well-being, and is highly suited for online treatment. |

Virtual Practice
The benefits of virtual therapy, through video or phone sessions, are numerous. Online therapy offers greater accessibility, affordability, privacy, and convenience for those with demanding schedules or who live in remote areas - no gas fees, parking, . (Acceptability of Tele-mental Health Services Among Users: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis, 2024) Since 2020, research has consistently demonstrated that online counselling is both supportive and effective. (Andrews et al., 2024) However, the effectiveness of virtual therapy can vary depending on each person's unique needs, the severity of their illness and concerns, and the resources available to them.
Challenges associated with virtual therapy include reduced access to nonverbal cues, environmental distractions such as pets, family, and calls and deliveries, and inconsistent Wi-Fi speed and connection quality. (Omidi & Pati, 2026, pp. 68-82) In rare cases, adverse weather can cause power outages and temporarily disrupt sessions. Despite these challenges, many clients find virtual therapy to be a flexible and effective solution for mental health support.
