FAQ
What are the differences between the CCC, RCC, and Psychologist credentials in BC?
Though sometimes discussed uniquely, the CCC and RCC Counselling Designations are more similar than different and are intended to promote safe, ethical and effective care to clients. The CCC and/or RCC credential is helpful to look for when searching for a therapist. Though similar to each other, these designations are unique to a Registered, Licensed Psychologist. In BC a Licensed Psychologist generally holds a PhD, they are able to assess and diagnoses but cannot prescribe medications. Only Psychiatrists, who are MDs, can prescribe medications.
